Bringing Emily Home
Day Two
Wednesday May 8, 2002 - Hanoi, Viet Nam

Hanging Around The Hotel Waiting for the Officials to Call
The next step in the process is called the Giving And Receiving Ceremony
We hope it is today because it is on the critical path to getting on our way back home.
But, like most other parts of this process, all we can do is hang around and wait.

Tuesday night was her first night with us, Emily went to sleep at about 9 PM and slept all the way through until around 3 AM.  She was restless until about 5:30 or 6 when we all got up.  After some breakfast, she slept until about 9:30 in her "bouncer".  She whimpers sometimes in her sleep, I wonder what she is dreaming about - what is going on in her young mind.

Yawn, g'morning

Gotta work on this food business
Emily is eating (or maybe spilling) rice cereal (yummy).

Maybe a thumb and a short nap?
I find that I really like to just sit and watch her sleep.  She looks so peaceful - with no idea of the wonders ahead of her.

Or, maybe just a thumb
Since we first met Emily a few months ago, she has become interested in many new things.  I have seen her stare at her hand - like she is figuring out that it really works for grabbing things (like toys and daddy's hair and glasses).

I like working on these toy deals.
Emily has a bit of a runny nose and some congestion.  She gets pretty good sleep in her "bouncer" (the blue thing in the background --->), probably because her head is elevated thus making it easier for her to breathe.  She also has something going on in her left eye that causes an accumulation of "stuff" in her eye and some watering.  Seems to bother me more than it bothers her.  We will have a local pediatrician take a look at her.

Wish I could get them in my mouth, though.
