Since our 2002 report, Emily has made outstanding progress. She is nearly two years old now – walking and running and exploring and beginning to exhibit typical two-year-old behavior. Her vocabulary continues to increase and her curiosity abounds. Her developmental progress is appropriate for her age and is in keeping with that of a USA born, non-adoptive child. Emily can feed herself and sometimes even uses a fork or spoon to do it. She eats mostly "adult" food now and seems to enjoy nearly everything she has tried. We have enrolled Emily in a "pre-school" for two half-day sessions per week. This is intended to increase her exposure to other children her age so that she may begin developing better social and interactive skills. Additionally, the school exposes Emily to many new things in the areas of art, music, food and creativity. Emily is a healthy child. She is 33" (0.8382 Meters) tall and weighs nearly 25 lbs. (11.34 kg). She has had all inoculations appropriate for her age and is doing fine. Emily tested mildly positive for Tuberculosis last year. A recent follow up test was strongly positive so she has begun a 9-month program of daily medication (Isoniazid), which will treat the disease. Our lives
continue to change along with
Emily. Each day brings new discoveries for her to share with us. She is
a very happy, funny and inquisitive child. She fills our lives. This
year
we intend to make further contact with the Vietnamese community in our
local area and introduce Emily to her culture.
