Bangkok
and the
Marriott
Resort and Spa
Compliments
of Marriott's frequent guest program.

March 17
- 20, 2002

The
hotel is located south of the main part of the city on the Chao Phraya
River. The river is a central highway for the city and is used for
every imaginable kind of transportation (bus, taxi, commercial, sightseeing,
barges full of everything). |

Morning
rainstorm
The morning after
we arrived, we were awakened to a torrential downfall. The kind of
rain that will get you real wet.

There
are an incredible number of partially constructed buildings along the waterfront
and elsewhere in the city. These are the after effects of the crash
of the Thai economy a few years ago. Some have ben "under construction"
for many years. |

This
building was under construction when we were last here eight years ago

It
has been standing empty, never completed

It
was supposed to be a Sofitel
