Mr. Marvin Skittles

UPDATE: June 2009
Mr. Skittles has moved on. He was getting a bit cranky and, in fact, took a large chomp
on Mary's finger requiring a trip to the ER. More recently, he was being boarded while
we worked on the house (paint fumes, lots of people, etc), and he befriended a customer
of the boarding place. Well, when Mary tried to pick him up, he attempted to chew on
her again. This led to Mr. Skittles being offered to his "new friend" and so now he lives
with her. He is doing well and is not missed by anyone - well, Mary misses him but not
the test of us. We have our movie room back and no squawking. Yeah!

Marvin is a Goffin's Cockatoo (Cacatua goffini)
He was born (hatched) on April 4th, 2000 near Los Angeles, California
He enjoys "working" on his toys, eating bananas and taking showers.

The Goffin's cockatoo is about 12 inches tall. Their feathers are white with pink tinge to the head feathers. The undersides of the Goffin's wings and tail are yellowish, and the eye ring is naked. Like most Cockatoos, Goffin's Cockatoos can make wonderful pets and they are not quite as demanding or loud as most others. They originate in the Tenimber islands of Indonesia. The Goffin's is one of the smartest of all the Cockatoos. It has a very gentle disposition. The Goffin's Cockatoo are known to be clowns, and are extremely playful. They often have the peculiar habit of putting things on their backs, or tossing them over their heads. They will hop straight up and down and love to dance. Acrobatic tricks often become second nature to them. When not playing in his house, Mr. Skittles likes hanging around in Frank's office and taking showers.
